Frequently Asked Questions
Learn more about our devices and how to get the most from your Red Health routine. Have a question we haven't answered? Our team is here to help.
What is red light therapy?
Red light therapy is the use of specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light, known in research as photobiomodulation. The light is absorbed by the mitochondria in your cells. It's non-invasive and drug-free, and research into it is growing worldwide. RED HEALTH devices are general wellness products for home use, not medical devices.
How does red light therapy work?
Red and near-infrared light are absorbed by a molecule in your mitochondria called cytochrome c oxidase, which plays a role in how your cells produce energy (ATP). Scientists are actively researching this process. Most people use red light as part of a recovery, skincare or relaxation routine.
Is red light therapy safe?
Red and near-infrared light contain no UV. Our devices are non-invasive and made for home use when used as directed. Follow the usage guide, protect your eyes as instructed, and check with your doctor first if you are pregnant, have a medical condition or take photosensitising medication. RED HEALTH devices are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
How often should I use red light therapy?
We suggest starting with 3–5 sessions per week of 10–20 minutes each, depending on your device and your distance from it. Consistency matters more than intensity. Think of it like exercise: regular, moderate sessions work best.
Which Red Health device is right for me?
It depends on your goals. Full-body panels (CORE, MAX, ULTRA) cover large areas in one session. Compact panels (MINI, TARGET) are for focused sessions such as your face and neck. Wearables (BELT, CAP, PRO MASK) are hands-free for specific areas. The PEMF Mat combines PEMF, light and warmth. Contact us and we'll help you choose.
What's the difference between red and near-infrared light?
Red light (around 630–660nm) is visible and is absorbed mainly near the surface of the skin, so it's popular for skincare routines. Near-infrared light (around 810–850nm) is invisible and reaches deeper into tissue, so it's popular for recovery routines. Many RED HEALTH devices combine both.
How long do Red Health devices last?
RED HEALTH devices use long-life LEDs rated for tens of thousands of hours. That's years of daily use. LEDs don't burn out suddenly like bulbs; they dim gradually over time.
What warranty and support do Red Health devices include?
Panels come with a 3-year warranty and wearables with a 1-year warranty, covering manufacturing defects. Our team can help with setup, usage and troubleshooting, Monday to Friday.
When will I see results from red light therapy?
Everyone is different. Most people find it takes a few weeks of consistent use to build a routine they enjoy. Skincare routines are usually judged over 8–12 weeks. Consistency is key.
What benefits can I expect from red light therapy?
People use red light as part of their wellness routine in many ways: to relax and unwind, in their post-workout recovery routine, and to support healthy-looking, radiant skin. Individual experiences vary, and red light is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment.
